Programme:

Talk 1: Application of Natural Language Processing to unstructured financial text to create alternative data for Finance

Abstract: Brain is a research-oriented company that has developed an integrated Natural Language Processing platform that enables the analysis of unstructured financial text to create alternative datasets for Finance. Some examples are:

  • Brain Sentiment Indicator that analyzes financial news with the objective of quantifying sentiment and buzz on more than 10000 global stocks
  • Brain Language Metrics on Company Filings with the objective of monitoring several language metrics on 10-Ks and 10-Qs company reports such as sentiment, percentage of various types of financial language used, and similarity
  • Brain Language Metrics on Earnings Calls Transcripts with the objective of quantifying language metrics in Earnings Calls Transcripts, for example, the sentiment of management presentation or analysts questions

The goal is to create robust models, also easily explainable, to build alternative datasets that can be used by institutional investors to build new investment strategies or complement existing ones.

Speaker: Francesco Cricchio, Brain Chief Executive Officer Brief CV: Francesco Cricchio is the co-founder and CEO of Brain, a company focused on the development of algorithms for trading strategies and investment decisions. He obtained his Ph.D. in Computational Methods applied to Solid State Physics from Uppsala University in 2010. He focused his career on solving complex computational problems in different sectors using a wide range of techniques, from statistical methods in solid-state Physics to the application of machine learning in different industrial sectors with a focus on Finance.

Talk 2: AI Automation and how it’s a game-changer on the way we apply AI to Business

VĂtor Centoducatte, Data Scientist at DataRobot

Abstract: Automation is transforming how we apply AI to Business. In this talk, we will show how an AI system for Demand Sensing (forecasting product sales) is usually built and how our AI automation platform, DataRobot, can be leveraged to move faster and with more confidence.

This Meetup is generously sponsored by Darwinex: a Multi-Asset Broker and Asset Manager, regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in the United Kingdom (FRN 586466). It gives traders the Brokerage Venue to trade the markets, and the Regulatory Cover to attract and monetize 3rd-party investor capital. Darwinex is probably the fastest way for talented traders to attract and manage investor capital at minimum cost and without any regulatory and administrative hurdles.
